| What
the Lucketts Fair Means to Our Community
The
Lucketts Fair is a long standing tradition where we
invite the public to come and experience the best
our community has to offer. Our community is proud
to provide this opportunity and many families, friends,
neighbors, local businesses and non-profit organizations
take part in the event. We all look forward to welcoming
fair attendees and providing an entertaining experience,
as well as enjoying the fair ourselves.
While
the Fair is all about having fun in our country atmosphere,
the Lucketts Fair also helps raise much needed funds
for the Lucketts Community Center Advisory Board and
our community as a whole.
The
Lucketts Community Center Advisory Board is a volunteer
community service organization dedicated to improving
the quality of life for all members of the Lucketts
community by providing resources to facilitate recreational,
educational, cultural and charitable services and
opportunities.
The
Advisory Board actively works to preserve the Old
Lucketts School building, which now serves as the
Lucketts Community Center, our “Town Center.”
The historic building and surrounding grounds are
in constant need of attention and improvement to support
the activities of our thriving community. Over the
last two decades, the LCCAB has been able to upgrade
the building’s electrical system, renovate the
stage for musical performances, build playgrounds
and ball fields, acquire land for expansion, and support
programs that serve the recreational interests of
our community. The Advisory Board also uses its resources
to meet broader community needs by funding preschool
and daycare scholarships and making donations to local
organizations.
The
Advisory Board also funds and administers the popular
Lucketts Bluegrass Series. This program attracts a
diverse crowd of visitors to the Lucketts area every
Saturday in October through May and helps to preserve
this art form.
The
Advisory Board is planning to use a portion of 2005
Fair proceeds for the renovation of the Community
Center kitchen, development of additional educational
and art programs, and for the future acquisition of
additional park land and facilities to meet the needs
of our rapidly growing community.
