Historic and Country Life Demonstrations
Throughout the Fair you will find demonstrations related to country life – past and present!
Inside the Historic Schoolhouse:
Watch members of the Waterford Quilters’ Guild as they demonstrate the basics of piecing and quilting. Take a chance on the Guild’s beautiful 2007 Raffle Quilt.
Talk with a local historian and mapmaker, Eugene Scheel, who shares the history of the area through hand drawn maps, and books.
Watch the Goose Creek Ruggers as they demonstrate traditional rug hooking and try your hand at the art. On Sunday,Spin Wool with Waterford’s Linda Landreth. See several different spinning wheels.
View the History of Lucketts area through stories, photographs, and learn about our Lucketts area landmarks and prominent families.
View “Lucketts: Portrait of a Rural Community” an exhibit of more than 30 works by local photographer Kerry Whitmer, displayed upstairs.
Outside the Historic Schoolhouse Building:
Learn how honey is made, observe honey bees in action, sample different flavors and sign up for a beekeeping class.The Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy will show you how to build a bluebird nestbox, talk about butterflies and how to attract them, and talk about the wildlife in the Lucketts area.
In the NEW Green Pavilion!!!
If Not You, Then Who? – Enviroscape -- Hands-on activities throughout the day allow kids to practice cleaning up pollution and recycling. Presentations Saturday at 10, 1 & 4 by Jennifer Maulfair from Round Hill.
Convenient Truths-- Interactive display introducing adults and children to life style choices that can make a difference. Learn about ecofriendly products, food, landscaping, transportation and green building alternatives.

Under the trees near the Bluegrass Gazebo:
Visit the Hands on Archeology exhibit led by Archeology Professor David Clark and learn about the history of early Loudoun, human presence in the Lucketts area, how we recover artifacts and why it is important. Take a turn cleaning artifacts!
Visit the Historic House Discovery exhibit with Tom Bullock. Lean how the history of Lucketts is revealed during renovation of old homes and at old home sites demolished for new building
Watch Shawn Grove from Lucketts, Virginia throw clay on a pottery wheel. Mr. Grove is not only a popular art teacher, but an artist in his own right, known for exceptional wood fired pottery.
Karl Blorstat of Smokey Hollow Forge (member of the Central Maryland Blacksmith Guild will demonstrate forging techniques.

In the Juried Craft Marketplace:
Explore Loudoun's agricultural heritage through hands-on activities for children and families. Grind corn, get up-close and personal with antique tractors and pick up valuable coupons for a visit to some of Loudoun County's most popular farm sites.

Get a sneak preview of the Lucketts Antique and Classic Auto Show, scheduled for September 30.
Try your hand at horseshoes with the Frederick Horseshoe Club here Sunday only. If you make a ringer on your first try you will win a prize! The Club will also be providing horseshoe demonstrations at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm, so you can drop by and see the champions play.
